SHQ September Meeting 2010

Where did the summer go? Tomorrow is September 1 and our next meeting will be held on Sept. 8, 4:30pm, at my home. Please bring your quilt block for Jenn's quilt if you haven't already given it to Laurel or Kathy C. It is my understanding we will be deciding upon the block layout, sashing, borders, backing, binding. The fabric, Nantucket Summer by Riley Blake Design, is so delightful. I'm excited to see what the finished quilt will look like. I'll fix up something "fallish" for dinner and we can catch up on all your fun stories about life and school, and as always, bring you projects or ideas to share.

For those of you who were unable to attend our August meeting, I've attached some photos of our friends latest projects. It is always so inspiring to see what everyone is doing. For me, it gets the creative juices flowing and pumps up the motivation to get projects started...and completed. There are so many fabulous, colorful, splendid, magnificent, funky, old-fashioned fabric lines coming out this fall. So much fabric and too little money and time, but oh, talk about eye-candy! I'm really going to begin focusing on my sewing this Labor Day weekend. I've been gone way too long from my sewing machine. It's almost as bad as not having a Diet Coke in my hand--maybe just as bad!

To fabric and beyond!

August 11, 2010 Meeting

The summer has melted away. It's hard to believe it is already
August. Time to get those last minute outdoor activities done and
enjoy the longer days while they last.

Meeting today at 4:30 pm at Cyndee's house. It's a BBQ potluck so
please bring a salad, side or dessert to share. Cyndee will be
grilling burgers (scary thought) and provide the fixings and drinks.

Please bring one of your projects to share--or projects in progress or
inspirations you have. We love them all! Also, bring your best
binding secrets to share. We will be viewing a couple of short videos
on different binding techniques as well.

We hope to be a Charter of the Utah Quilt Guild by the end of this
month. Please let Cyndee know if you are a member and when your
expiration date is so she can submit this info.

See you all soon!
